Over the last 2 years i have been to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Basildon... omg gonna stop now cos there are too many 
Travelling can be part of the fun- whether all the way, half way or to the front door.
Home visits are fun too (except for the housework beforehand)
And we did have a good time :giggle:

you can get them from tube stations (at least that is where i got mine) but you may be able to get them on line etc in advance as well. the actual card costs a deposit of £3 and you charge it up with as much money as you want to - £10 minimum. Can save you cash even if only used for one day clare.
It works by charging you the minimum possible for the journeys you actually use by deciding your tariff at the end of the day. To do this you pass card over a reader at beginning and end of any journeys (don't forget to do the end one cos otherwise it may charge more than is necessary)
watch out that do not already have a train ticket that will possibly cover tubes and trains cos would be silly to use it then
