Folks, I have met some lovely people on this site and had some wonderful meets, no question! What I struggle with is the chat room because:
1. Chat is supposed to be 2 way - you talk they respond - BUT, mostly if there are 10 people there only 3 say anything!
2. Chat is supposed to get something over about you, your thoughts, your attitudes, sense of humour, all of which point to your personality! - How the F**K do you do any of that with one liners like:
a) looking good (add name)
b) wow (add name) you look sexy
c)pmsl
d) lol
e)hi (add name) pm me?
I can approach and talk to literally anybody from a stranger off the street, to a person in a club, but if they only respond in 3 word answers what do u do?
Answers on a postcard here please in more than 3 words at a time!!!!!!

I thought this site was all about having fun? Agree with you on the "going down the pan" bit though!
And as for the original thread question, the reason no one has replied informatively is because no one (including you Teecee) can answer it! There's Nothing to sell at the moment, because it's arse and everybody is taking the whole thing too seriously![/color]

i read and re-read the initial post. Because i tend to talk a lot in the chat room i find it hard to respond to this but here goes for a more considered reply- hopefully it will be serious enough for teecee.
There will always be those who say little in the room etc but what can you do? I ask open questions but must admit i don't tend to talk to the silent lurkers very much - mainly because when i have tried to draw them into the conversation they don't even reply.
Sometimes it is hard to pluck up the courage to chat in there but if you don't then nothing will come your way. How much do you chat when you go in there? Do you sit on the side and hope that someone will initiate conversations?
Eventually you are going to need to be brave, ask some silly questions and just join in!
And btw teecee it is really boring to take life seriously all the time. I don't think anyone was really taking the mick out of steed himself. Lighten up!
just be yourself mate... takes time!
Have you tried introducing yourself and adding you're new and a little nervous. Don't just jump in, wait until you feel you can add a positive or witty response to a subject being discussed at the time and I'm sure someone will respond and soon enough you'll be chatting away like a goodun.
It just takes a little time and patience. Good luck :thumbup:

My sense is this:
A sense of fun goes hand in hand with good sex and good contact. I never in my life got on with a woman unless I could make her smile at the very least - or more importantly Laugh!! So sure, we should not be too up ourselves on the site. BUT the the first few posts at the top do nothing to move this thread on. A bit parasitic lol they just feed off other peoples attempts to be constructive. ANYONE can do that, and if everyone does you kill the thread!
Must say I have introduced my self every time! I actually write copy for some of my work and I am not in the least bit shy or nervous! But I find that when you actually get involved it gets as silent as a tomb and you wind up with the PMSL, LOL, Looking good? tendency again. Up myself here? Naaaa - surely its not too much to ask for something more than the equivalent of sound effects in a human conversation!
In my humble opinion, unless the chat is not only fun but also raised above the three letter abbreviation or four letter acronym level it has to die, or be populated by people who have nothing to say! Surely you write LOL AFTER you say something, not INSTEAD of saying something! Everyone here is perfectly capable of having a great laugh AS WELL AS being responsible for keeping the site alive and growing.
Its up to us! Constructive or just taking the michael!
