Hi Scorpio,
Well, as the 17th person to view this thread, allow me to be the first to communicate by replying to it
It's the age old problem - how does someone get a good feel for your personality just by reading something you type? Personally, I find that very difficult unless the person doing the writing is very good with words and can express themselves well. A lot of people find that very difficult, and so prefer not to do so, either in the forums or on their profiles. This may make them harder to get to know, and they may not get many meets, but such is life.
I can't agree with your views on the chatroom though. "Sure we have a chat room, but as a comparative minority of people on here actually use it, it seriously limits your options for getting to know people. Also, over use of the chat room can get you labelled as someone who just comes here to flirt and watch cams as opposed to swing, so its a catch 22 situation - do you sit quiet and wait for people to come to you, or do you chat and get labelled a time waster?" Do you really think that "over-use" of the chatroom (whatever that means) gets you labelled as a flirt / camwatcher? I'd say that frequent use of the chatroom gets you recognised as a serious regular (those who sit in there and do just watch tend to go unnoticed anyway - I don't think they get a reputation for it).
I always recommend that newbies (and I don't mean you) use the chatroom as quickly as possible, because it's a much better way of injecting some humour and feeling into what you are saying as it is more spontaneous - something that's very difficult to do in profiles or forum posts.
It would be nice if we could make more of an effort to reply to the "Introduce Yourself" posts, but to be honest I haven't got the time. With the best will in the world I could spend ages replying to all of them - I only do so for those who are seeking advice or who have something interesting to offer as an opening statement.
