It is with great regret that I have to announce the closure, in its current form, of the Brighton Sun Club (also known as Hamshaw). Although not a complete closure, it will be handed over to new management from Sunday 20th November. We don't know anything about its future plans, other than it is being sold to Club Wicked, who are key players in the Fetish industry. For those of you unfamiliar with the Brighton Sun Club, it is, in my opinion, the best swingers club in the South East. Previously a family naturist club with vast open grounds, it was bought out and converted to an “adults only” club. The Brighton Sun Club first opened its doors to the public on the 18th June 2004 (ironically the same day as my 40th birthday!), retaining the original name of “Hamshaw”, albeit as a sub-name. Since then, the club has been built up bit by bit, very soon consisting of an outdoor swimming pool, which is always heated, indoor facilities (sauna, jacuzzi, steam room), and a shack consisting of about 12 play rooms. There are also open grounds for nude sunbathing, and a “forest” area, which is lovely to walk through. You can sometimes see and hear low-flying pheasants while you're trying to have a bit of fun in the woods!! The biggest fear is that Club Wicked will turn it into an evening-only club, with a fair amount of fetish entertainment (which is OK if that turns you on), therefore losing the day club and the facilities that go with it. I know I shouldn't cast aspersion but, in the circumstances, it's hard not to. I was there yesterday, and all the regulars and staff have taken the news quite heavily. There were quite a few people in tears and, I have to say, the thought of the closure has also choked me. All staff will lose their jobs, as Club Wicked bring their own team in. Death is something we only associate with the loss of a loved one, but there will be many people, including myself, in a state of mourning on the 20th November. Sunday afternoons and evenings will never be the same again. Those of you who have been lucky enough to visit will know just what I mean……….
