Hi all, Well, some of you will have noticed that I've been away from here for over 2 weeks now. I have been to hell and back and it has been completely stressful, and that's not just down to the withdrawal symptoms I've been suffering! The reason for this is my phone line went down on the 17th March, and had to be repaired. Of course, this meant no broadband service! The line was fixed a few days later, but could only receive/make voice calls: there was still no broadband coverage. Not to mention the fact that a well-known telephone company dragged their heels when it came to repairing the line, so there was I losing my rag for three days, before they kicked ass. Five days later, I called my Internet Service Provider. They finally admitted that it was their fault that my line went down: you see, they attempted to migrate my broadband service from 512kbit/s to 8meg, without either notifying me first, or bothering to find out that my exchange cannot accommodate more than 512kbit/s! And you can guess what happened.....yes, it caused a small explosion on my line in the exchange! The ISP told me that normal service would not be restored for 4 weeks! Now come on: how could I wait that long? Anyway, to cut to the chase, I terminated my contract with them, and sent a formal letter of complaint to their Chief Executive - that's another story which I'll go into later. I am awaiting my Broadband line to be released from my previous ISP. This should take another week. In the meantime, I have had to revert to using a 56k dialup service, which is very slow! I'm still around, and in chat, but please excuse me if I take something like 2 minutes to respond to you in the chat room. With the dialup service being as slow as it is, it even slows down my response in chat rooms. But it's now (hopefully) only a matter of time before I'm fully back up and running. As Chumbawamba said "I get knocked down, but I get up again, and you're never gonna keep me down....."! Cat xx Post edited 01-04-2006 14:16
