Best thing I could advise you to do is get yourself in the chatroom and say hello. We are not scary I promise and we are always happy to help out the newbies. Its a good way to get to know people.
Another good way to get to know people is to get yourself along to a social. There is one coming up next month in Milton Keynes - look in the lets meet up section in the forums and the thread is called 'MK4 date is announced'. Its just a group of us getting together for a drink, a catch up and a laugh. Keep your eye out in the forums as there are socials usually every few months.
Also, I would suggest you get some pics on your profile. If you aren't comfortable having them there for all to see you can put them in your private gallery so then you just show people you want. I would also suggest brushing up your profile a little bit. It doesn't have to be a novel like mine lol, but just a little bit more about your likes/dislikes and what you are looking for. The more specific you can be the better.
