AW Mrs. S it was brill to meet you two too!! Still not washed my hand you know biggrin Fab :D
OOOh I think I might have an interesting perspective on this!! As a single female, on her first social, there alone..and a non-swinger... Well, I was terrified. I absolutely was. I was worried about people's reactions to me even being there at all. I was worried about getting lost.. dont know MK...dont know the club.. etc And you know, I was absolutely bowled over by how everyone welcomed me. It was overwhelmingly touching and I was completely - you know it - discombobulated. Everyone was wonderful. Everyone. I was particularly concerned about being at the club on my own - but I just felt so safe and looked after. It was fabulous. I really can't thank everyone enough. Bays well done in organising the event. These things are never easy, particularly when its a remote organisation. There was actually a brill room at the club that the group could've quite easily taken over (The Boudoir?) but people seemed to enjoy the freedom of the club. As an observer/voyeur/perv, I would say that the socials are an ideal starting point for new people to meet the people that they've been chatting to in the room and on the forums. Go with an open mind and without expectations other than forming friendships and laying foundations for on-going swingster potential. A City-Break with a twist. A brill weekend that i am going to pay the hungover price for! :2fingers:
Can we just say midgie is a fab person and lovely, never mind the books .... it was great to meet you babes xxxx
I didn't actually touch the books! I did, however, have a read of the Guardian yesterday morning with me Starbucks. *SERIOUSLY hardcore*
Hey Kat and Neil, Please don't read our post as negative. It was a lot of work setting up this social, and we appreciate it. Thank you. As I said, it was a social, and we had no expectations beyond it being a social - we were just giving our impressions as feedback. We had a good time, as I said, and thank you very much for organising things. Our comments were meant merely to illustrate the difficulties anyone new has in integrating with a group, and to show where perceptions can be different to different people. It's the same no matter the event or group - being the new people in the office Christmas party is exactly the same. New people are often told to go to socials to get to meet others and build relationships, and I think it's worth pointing out where this works well and where it doesn't work so well. We really enjoyed the first half of the evening - the hotel bar was a great time, the pub was pretty good too - and, for us, it started to be less social at the club. Judging by a few other comments I've had, it was similar for some other first-time goers. Perhaps experienced people found it the other way round? If you already have a good circle of friends and contacts then the bar and pub may have seemed like a prelude to the real fun at the club. If the two groups are looking for different things then it's quite possible that there's no way to please everyone, and that's usually the way things are. Perhaps some socials should be emphasised more for the people who already know each other, and others for new people to meet each other?
So how did the Book Reading go, did you get through your 3 Novels?
and that would be...... The Shakers :thrilled::thrilled::thrilled:

Blimey... I'm pretty random as a whole not sure I could think of 25 random bits biggrin 1. I've bitten my nails down to no nails, just skin - a mingin habit but under-rated after KFC. 2. I have a phobia about knives. I can't cope if someone is stood near me with one. Sat down eating fine - stand up to reach the salt with your knife in your hand - clammy sweats. 3. I have an equally freak phobia about fire. I can't light birthday cake candles and have to get someone else to do it. The year I tried to light a disposable barbeque nearly saw me hospitalised. 4. 'Like a Virgin' was playing when I lost my cherry. He finished before the song did. 5. The nutter on the bus ALWAYS comes and sits next to me. 6. I once walked into a hotel in Paris with £20 in me purse and asked them for a room for 2 nights. They said no can do, go to the youth hostel. I said but I don't want to slum it I want to stay in your nice hotel! And they let me!! :D 7. I can't eat prawns - tis akin to eating your own little finger. 8. One of the maddest, blaggiest things I ever did was to get into a nightclub in Manhattan pretending to be Benny Hill's Grand-daughter. Was given VIP treatment and free drinks. Unbeknown to me, the 'comedy genius' had just died, so I had every bugger coming up all night giving me their condolences! FFS Im trying to enjoy me free Long Island Iced Tea here!! 9. I have snogged Harry Hill. 10. When I was 5, my little brother and I found my Dad's porn stash. we carefully unstapled the pages.. took the magazines apart.. and posted select pictures to all the neighbours. That learned him! 11. I'm mad for Morten Harket. I've stalked him all over the UK and Norway, sat in a hotel lobby waiting for him til 4 am once and busted him with a chick who wasn't his wife. Oh Morten. 12. I swear by goji berries. 13. I used to own 15 different sex-toys, a remote control vibrating butt-plug, s+m studded spanking paddle and various restraints. Had to get rid of them though because I kept thinking what if I die and me mum comes and finds all this lot! So it all went in the bin - all in its packaging as well.. *sheesh* 14. I love walking in the rain if you don't have to be anywhere soon. 15. I am a complete hoarder and can't throw anything away. When I die they will have to dig a tunnel into the house through all the crap. 16. I love loony, interesting people. 17. 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash, particularly the video makes me cry instantly. Actually, that's me - I laugh and cry very easily - bless her midgelry little sensitive soul :D 18. My biggest bugbears are.. rudeness, arrogance, intolerance and bus-drivers. And DiY ( that elliptical trainer is still in bits in the box). 19. I was once a podium dancer. There was nothing sexy about it in the slightest - it was during the rave period and just entailed flailing your arms about..a LOT! 20. I won a public speaking competition once with a talk about 'My Pet Worms'. People thought it was real and I actually had pet worms. Which I didn't. It was a total blag because I couldn't be bothered researching something topical/political/historical..or genuine :D 21. Apparently, I'm a bit of a prankster :D That'll do eh? Midgerly Yours.... :2fingers:
