I can see the faults in the site but... well Ill put forward a suggestion but it isn't going to keep me awake at night or make me go overly ranty-rant-rant......
i think people get annoyed at the site because they aren't pulling or achieving what they want. That's not necessarily the sites fault. I'm here to div around and I have very low (ie nil) expectations, it just wiles away the quiet times - and I pull loads! :rascal: Don't take it so seriously and you're more likely to get what you want!

If you throw things out there for response - you get a response - which was what you wanted? So some people proffered different opinions - some of which you agree with - some you dont. But. It doesn't solve anything or change anything. It's just an airing of views simple as.
I've been coming on this site on and off since 2005 and there have always been peaks and troughs. I left in the memorable trough of May 06. And I came back.
It's what happens.
The mailing thing is something that a lot of people seem to be disgruntled about. I think from a personal point of view I am more favourable to be mailed from someone I clicked with in chat rather than a spontaneous mail drop.
I say again though - chill - it's supposed to be fun - if it's stopped being fun - stop doing it.

Ok... before this escalates into something it was never intended to be, it has to be pointed out that this particular thread was put into the category marked "Anything Goes! An area for conversations or rants about anything you like."
With reference to Oliviak, it was not our intention to come across as moaners, whingers or anything of the like but we are certainly entitled to put across our thoughts (as many others have and probably will again) without being told to stop whinging.
Now we certainly don't want to get too defensive either but it also has to be pointed out that as a "longer time member" (of over three years continious membership) who possibly owes it to the site to help make it a better place for all, we have already organised one successful meet in Leeds this year; are in the early stages of planning another meet next year and successfully managed to lobby admin into introducing the traffic light activity system (which we notice many people have chosen to take up). We are doing our little bit to help keep the interest and fun going for everyone!
As such, its totally unfair for anyone to say stop whinging and make us feel as though we are speaking out of turn here when the original good intention was to throw out there - in the "anything goes" forum - our thoughts on why the site could be in a malaise... or a trough... or a down point at this point in time. Now some may, and indeed do, appear to feel the same way. Others may disagree but that's why forums are there.
The chatroom is just one aspect of this thread but it is only one aspect. Feedback from mails sent and messages received; activity in the forums and the seemingly pointless Groups category all make us feel as though somehow... or someone... or something needs to happen or more and more people will feel disilusioned with the site and more people will leave.
Sudsy and Ceylon are absolutely right though. The site has had many ups and downs over the years. I just can't remember the last time it lasted this long.
Ok... now I've REALLY opened myself up to feedback, let the criticisms flow...

But it's like what Sudsy said. As so many good members have already jumped ship for whatever reason - either they got sick of waiting for admin to sort themselves out, or they just bored with the troughs, or whatever other reason - then this site is in a bit of the doldrums at the mo.
But it's not going to get any better if people just keep leaving. We need to stay and it's up to all of us now to make things better.
And I'm sorry but yes I do believe too many people have been whinging about the site. But this site is what us the paying active members make of it. Sitting back and saying that SP has gone downhill and turned to shite really isn't going to help anything. We all need to stand up and say ok, we are going through a bit of a bad patch, so lets all club together and get things back up again. No one can do that but us the users.
Admin can only do so much. Ok they have made some long overdue improvements which is great, but they can't make people go in the chatroom and chat, or make them go to socials, or make people contribute to the forums. WE have to do that. WE have to make the effort to make things pick up again.
These improvements have only just been rolled out by admin over the last month or so, so of course it will take a bit of time for people to get used to them and start using the benefits. So just give things a chance.
I have noticed quite a few newbies come in the chatroom lately and that's great - new blood! But we need to give them a chance to settle in and get their head around the site. Crikey, I was terrified of the chatroom for the first month or 2 I was on here. So if they aren't actually talking right now try not to forget what it was like when we were newbies. So just be patient.
To be fair... one the other site we try is altogether bigger and a lot more going on, yes even in the afternoon at 'that time' !!!.
Oli, sorry and forgive me if we have taken your 'rant' the wrong way but this is another thing that drives us mad with the site. People who appear to think that just because people have different veiws then original person is obviousley barking up the wrong tree.
In the words of my dad (god rest his soul) if you can't be nice don't be nasty.
If you beleive we are whinging ..think that but as I have posted in other threads there are some great people on here and one of the reasons we have added this is because there are people on here been on a lot longer and we just what the benefit of their experience. We are not 'whinging' or 'moaning' it is a statement of fact as we see it.
As I say, if it has been taken the wrong way then we apologise.
Lac sorry hun, but it takes a bit more effort and leg work to get a meet than just posting a one liner in the forums. Sorry to burst your bubble but that's just a fact.
You would also need to make more of an effort at the wording on your profile. Like I said - one liners don't really tell a lot about you and what your likes/dislikes are and what you are looking for in a swing partner.
A well worded and thought out profile can make all the difference.
